The Language Center assists students in meeting the Institute's English language requirement through the provision of courses in English for Academic Purposes. The courses provide a solid foundation in academic reading, academic writing, academic listening, and academic speaking, and equip learners with skills and strategies that can be transferred to their studies in faculty. In academic reading and writing classes, learners adopt a range of reading strategies to achieve different reading purposes, critically evaluate key texts, organize essays, and adopt an appropriate writing style. In academic listening and speaking classes, comprehension is developed through engagement with academic lectures and making useful notes, and learners are trained to effectively take part in seminar discussions, ask and respond to questions, give and justify opinions, make presentations and learn from feedback. Focus is also given to language development where learners analyze lexical and grammatical functions of language in academic contexts to see how specific meaning is expressed, particularly in writing.​​
