Dear students,
At the beginning, I extend to you my warmest congratulations and well wishes on your deserved success in passing the competitive admission process to join the prestigious academic institution of higher education in the Arab world, the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. This institute was specifically established to contribute to the efforts of promoting scientific research in social and human sciences and to produce original knowledge that is interconnected with global research production. To achieve this mission, the institute has adopted and continues to maintain advanced international academic standards in all disciplines that qualify its degree holders to embark on the experience of doctoral education in reputable universities worldwide.
You, our dear students, are an integral part in the performance of this mission, as the Institute cannot achieve it without your active role and initiative. The Institute has taken it upon itself to provide the appropriate environment to contribute to the establishment of a generation of young researchers in the social sciences and humanities, which is you, and it is your responsibility to carry this message and pass it into the future. You are the ones who will play a complementary role to what the Doha Institute does, the responsibilities are great, and we are confident that you are up to the responsibility, and the proof of this is your success in the admission process.
The academic standards at the Doha Institute qualify the student to engage smoothly and competitively in the international labor market and in prestigious international higher education institutions that follow similar scientific standards, but in order to achieve this, you must cooperate constructively and responsibly with the Institute's policies, professors, staff and academic standards. Your success is our success, and we look forward to two years of fruitful work together, and we hope that you will help us achieve this success.
At the Deanship of Student Affairs, we adopt a set of principles that guides our work, and I ask students and faculty to help us maintain these principles, because of their impact on achieving our mission:
1. Partnership: We cannot achieve our mission successfully without a real partnership between the Deanship and students, based on rights and duties, with each of us assuming our responsibilities and complementing each other, so that we can succeed in what we aspire to.
2. Transparency: At the Deanship of Student Affairs, we are keen to be clear in policies and procedures and to communicate them to the students with transparency and high responsibility.
3. Justice: The Student Affairs Deanship works to apply the principle of justice and equality for all in different policies and transactions, and the deanship does not accept any injustice towards a student.
4. Ownership: It's not meant in a commercial sense, but we see that the student, after joining the institute, becomes a part of it. Any success benefits everyone, as does any shortcomings. Once the student graduates, they become a symbolic ambassador of the institute, representing it and taking pride in their degree. So, dear student, be keen on your institute and its interests, as its success will reflect on you in the future, and will help you open up new job opportunities and avenues for excellence.
Finally, I encourage you, dear students, to get to know the different departments in the Deanship of Student Affairs and the colleagues in the Deanship who dedicate their time to your success. Your knowledge of what the Deanship offers to help you succeed, and your constructive communication with colleagues, help you achieve a successful experience at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. I ask you to cooperate with my dear colleagues in the Deanship of Student Affairs and help them achieve their mission that aims at your success. Together we are moving forward, and together we are charting a prosperous future that we can all be proud of.
I welcome you again, and I wish you success always.
