Omar ChaikhouniDirectoromar.chaikhouni@dohainstitute.edu.qa<p>​Omar Chaikhouni joined the Communications and External Relations team in July 2015.  His role is to develop and execute communication strategies that enhance public awareness about the mission and accomplishments of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.  </p><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:107%;font-family:'sakkal majalla';"><span></span></span><p>Omar started his career in media relations at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, where he gained experience in building relations with media outlets and pitching feature stories to top global news outlets.  He later moved to Qatar Museums as Public Relations Manager, where he was instrumental in establishing the marketing and public relations department and leading several local and international campaigns for new museums, art exhibitions and cultural events.  Then he joined Al Jazeera Media Network as a consultant and contributed to launching several social media campaigns.</p><p>He has also worked in other areas in Washington, DC and in California.</p><p>Omar holds a BA in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley (2003) and an MA in International Affairs from School of International Service at The American University in Washington, DC (2007).</p><p>He enjoys soccer (football), reading and learning about world cultures.    </p>Director
Khaled Walid MahmoudMedia and Communications Managerkhaled.mahmoud@dohainstitute.edu.qa<p>Khaled Mahmoud is the Media and Communications Manager at the DI. From 2011-2015, he was Assistant Researcher at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. Prior to this Khaled was Senior Editor and a news desk manager at Yahoo!.</p><p>His research interests are focused on political activism through social and digital media. He has been a researcher with the Civitas program, monitoring public opinion amongst diaspora Palestinians and a Research Associate with Professor Nathan Brown, examining the political participation of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan. His articles have appeared in a number of print and on-line media, as well as in peer-reviewed journals. He is the author of two Arabic books, Social Media and the Dynamics of Change in the Arab World (2011); and The Present and Future Realities of Israeli Security (2007).</p><p>He holds a BA in Political Science and an MA in International Relations, both from the University of Jordan.</p>Media and Communications Manager
