        The Doha Institute Board of Trustees held its meeting on Sunday 28 October 2018, chaired by Dr. Azmi Bishara, Chair of the Board at the DI campus in Doha. The meeting was attended by H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, PhD, Vice Chair of the Board; and the board members: Dr. Ahmad Dallal; Dr. Laurie Brand; Dr. Dina Khoury; Dr. Ebrahim Moosa; Dr. Wail Benjelloun; Dr. Khalil Hindi and Dr. Ghanim Al-Najjar. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Yasir Suleiman Malley, Acting President of the DI.

The board standing committees held its meetings the day before, including the Financial and Administrative Audit Committee chaired by Dr. Al-Thani, the Nominations Committee chaired by Dr. Bishara, the Financial Affairs and Planning Committee chaired by Dr. Benjelloun and the Academic Affairs Committee chaired by Dr. Dallal.

The Board discussed the agenda items of this meeting, and reviewed the measures undertaken following decisions of their previous meeting. The chairs of the standing committees of the Board raised their recommendations from the committees’ meetings. The Board approved the recommendations of the Academic Affairs Committee regarding the Master of Critical Security Studies program (MCSS). The members discussed the initial proposal for a Master of Human Rights program, approved a number of PhD policies at the Institute, in addition to approving the decision of the Promotion Committee for the academic year 2017/2018, ratified the appointment of the newly appointed faculty members to the rank of Associate Professor and Professor.

The Board of Trustees discussed recommendations from the Financial and Administrative Audit Committee following the Annual Internal Audit Report and the Internal Audit Charter, as well as the recommendations of the Financial Affairs and Planning Committee regarding the budget for the academic year 2018/2019. The recommendations were approved by the Board after discussion.

During the meeting, the members of the Board also listened to the Institute Progress Report, presented by Dr. Malley. At the end of the meeting, a special session was held to discuss the DI Strategic Plan, which included members of the Board of Trustees and members of the Strategic Plan Drafting Committee at the Institute. This committee is chaired by Dr. Malley and included Dr. Hend Al Muftah, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Abdelwahab El-Affendi, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Soleman Abu-Bader, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Social Work, Dr. Abderrahim Benhadda, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Faical Al Mansouri, Acting Dean of School of Public Administration and Development Economics, Dr. Ibrahim Fraihat, Program Chair of the Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action Program, and Ms. Olfat Hammad, Director of Planning, Development and Documentation at the DI.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Institute was scheduled for the end of March 2019 in Doha.
