The Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography Program is organizing a symposium titled: “Issues of the Arabic Language and Applied Linguistics” from January 4-5, 2017.

Aiming to highlight the importance of the applied aspect when dealing with current issues of Arabic, the symposium will be based on outcomes of interdisciplinary interactions.

Another objective of the symposium is to bring together researchers from various fields of knowledge with an interest in the topic, to exchange ideas and information, focus on the criticality of these issues and present summaries of their projects.  Furthermore, the symposium will attempt to monitor completed or in-progress research projects in order to create a database that connects research together and eases access to information.  This will enable the formation of an Arab applied linguistics program that takes cultural, social and linguistic nuances into account, as well as the determination of the priorities of the framework of common work in the Arab world.
