The Minister of Foreign Affairs' Special Envoy for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, HE Dr Mutlaq bin Majed al-Qahtani delivered a lecture at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) on Qatar's policy and experience in mediation and conflict resolution.

The event was held yesterday, January 12, 2021 at DI and moderated by DI Vice President of Administration and Finance, Dr. Hend Abdulrahman Al Muftah.

HE Dr. Mutlaq underlined that Qatar adopts an effective and balanced foreign policy by playing a vital role in diplomatic mediation to resolve disputes and invite the parties to reach peaceful resolutions. "Qatar's foreign policy has always been one of preserving sovereignty and independence and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign countries," he affirms.

Dr. Al Qahtani explained that Qatar has gained international recognition as a powerful mediator in international and regional crises, while balancing between competing ties, maintaining open lines of communication with all parties, and believing in working within strategic alliances and international and regional partnerships.

Special Envoy for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution said that Qatar upholds the need for the peaceful settlement of disputes through mediation.
