Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) announced on Wednesday, 20 May 2020, the graduation of 153 students from School of Social Sciences and Humanities, and School of Public Administration and Development Economics.
The class of 2020 now join DI growing alumni network having graduated from various fields including Sociology and Anthropology, Politics and International Relations, Media and Cultural Studies, Journalism, Philosophy, Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography, Comparative Literature, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action, Public Administration, Development Economics, Public Policy, Executive Master of Public Administration, and Dual Executive Master's Degree in Business Administration and Public Administration.
President of Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, Dr. Yasir Suleiman Malley expressed his pride and respect for the graduates of the fourth cohort, as It is an achievement that will never be forgotten during this unprecedented times due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) and the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Dr. Malley wished all graduates a future full of success and accomplishment in their communities and to attain the aspirations of their homelands, continue their professional and scientific career and shine during the next stage, adding that "Students are the sustainable capital of Doha Institute and every cohort plays a vital role in this sustainability, which would not have been achieved without the generous support received from Qatar, the leadership and the people."
Dr. Hend Al Muftah, Vice President of Administration and Finance said, "The Institute is proud of its students who have challenged the pandemic by continuing the studies through virtual platforms and have succeeded. Unfortunately, the graduation ceremony was cancelled this year for the precautionary measures to curb COVID-19. Sincere wishes to graduates in their future career, whether academic, professional or research, hoping that they will be the best ambassadors of the Institute, well-equipped with knowledge and good ethics."
"The Doha Institute is celebrating the graduation of its fourth cohort of students empowered by the knowledge to support the development process," Director of Communication and External Relations, Mr. Ali Menadi Al Kaabi stated. Indicating that, "The Institute is a landmark in the field of higher education in Qatar and the Arab region, which focuses on the required disciplines to promote intellectual awareness and advance sustainable development, seeking to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030 goals.
It is worth mentioning that the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies was established in 2014 by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies based on its awareness to the importance of effective contribution to human capacity development in social sciences and humanities, and public administration and development economics, as well as the development of higher education in the Arab region within an Arab vision and identity, and the need to make professional leaders capable of advancing human knowledge, producing, developing, and engaging them to serve the needs of Arab societies.
