The Doha Institute (DI) Board of Trustees (BoT) held its seventeenth meeting on 18 March 2023 in Doha, presided by Dr Azmi Bishara, Chair of the Board, joined by HE Dr Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Vice Chair of the Board, and with the attendance of the trustees: Dr Ahmad Dallal, Dr Ebrahim Moosa, Dr Khalil Hindi, Dr Dina Khoury, Dr Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, Dr Aziz Al Azmeh and Ghanim Al Najjar, Dr Laurie Brand, and Dr Wail Benjelloun. The meeting was also attended by Dr Abdelwahab El Affendi, President of the Doha Institute.
The Board meeting had been preceded by several committee meetings; the Academic Affairs Committee chaired by Dr Dallal, the Financial Affairs and Planning Committee chaired by Dr Benjelloun, and the Financial and Administrative Audit Committee chaired by Dr Al-Thani. The committees’ chairs presented their recommendations to the Board members for discussion and approval.
The Board reviewed the items on its agenda and followed up on the board decisions and recommendations of the previous meeting. The members discussed proposals for an executive master's program in integrated security studies and an executive master's program in humanitarian leadership, agreeing to launch the two programs at the beginning of the next academic year 2023/2024. The Board also discussed the Institute's third five-year strategic plan for the period from 2023-2028, a number of policies, and the financial report for the current academic year. The Chair of the Financial and Administrative Audit Committee also presented the internal audit follow-up report for the academic year 2021/2022, and the report of the external auditor, which was then endorsed by the Board.
Dr Abdelwahab El Affendi, President of the DI, briefed the Board on the most important issues detailed in the DI progress report, including its achievements and the challenges encountered since the previous board meeting (October 2022).
The Board will hold its next meeting in October 2023.
