Program Structure

The MPA program comprises 42 credits hours taken over 4 semesters, as follows:

A. Program Core Compulsory Courses (24 Credits): 

Students are expected to complete 8 courses of 3 credits each as follows:

B. Concentration Tracks (15 Credits)

MPA students may specialize in any one of the two offered concentration tracks, align with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the international sustainable development goals, by enrolling in elective courses and completing 15 credits in the following areas.

Non-Governmental Organizations focuses on:

  • - Understanding and applying concepts, principles, and processes that affect the governance of nongovernmental agencies in the Arab World and in international settings.

  • - Understand and apply budget, finance, human resources and development to non-governmental organizations.

  • - Formulate and apply different strategies related to marketing, public relations, and communication in non-governmental organizations.

  • - Formulate and apply strategies for acquiring, managing, developing, and retaining volunteers and board members in nongovernmental organizations in the Arab World and in international settings. The courses are the following:

Administrative Development aim to:

  • - Understand and apply concepts, principles, and processes that affect the administrative development efforts in the Arab World and in international settings.

  • - Understand and apply new management techniques to public organizations.

  • - Formulate and apply different strategies related to strategic management of public organizations.

  • - Analyze and evaluate the efforts in reforming the public organizations to increase their effectiveness and efficiency.

- Students in these tracks are entitled to choose one course (3 credit hours) from outside the track as a free choice.

 Students selects 6 credits hours from DI course work and 9 credits hours from the program. the courses aer the following:

C. Capstone Research (3 Credits)

-  MPA 698 Capstone Research

Students with less than two years of work experience in public service (government or non-profit sector) will be required to enroll in (3 Credits), "Compulsory Public Service Internship". This course MPA 602 Internship is for pre-service students only.
